Viñales Valley: Tobacco & Mogotes
Western Cuba is the home of many touristic sights, from the capital Havana with its eventful 500-year histoy, to the low mountain range Sierra del Rosario, to the tobacco province Pinar del Rio, and finally to the scenically impressive Vinales Valley.
The stages between Vinales and the far western Peninsula de Guanahacabibes are among the most beautiful of all Cuba for bikers.

Day 1: Arrival
Check-In into the hotel or casa particular in Havana is in the afternoon. We use the first and second day in Havana to acclimatize and get a feel for our bikes.
Day 2: Metropolis
After breakfast and welcome reception we receive our bikes and take them for a little spin. In the afternoon we'll explore the historical Oldtown.
Days 3 and 4 (85 km): An orchid's garden and a swim in the river
Our bike tour's first stage brings us to the recreational site of Las Terrazas and on to Soroa, where we stay for two nights. The second day we visit the orchid's garden in Soroa and can take a swim in the waters of Rio San Juan.
Day 5 (80 km): Crossing the Sierra del Rosario
We're heading to San Diego de los Banos, traversing the biosphere reserve Sierra del Rosario.
Days 6 and 7 (65 km): Valley of Viñales
Shortly after San Diego we reach the national park La Güira. The roads to Vinales are a little tricky, but the scenery is worth it. Before reaching Vinales, we can visit the small cave "Cueva de los Portales", headquarters of a part of Cuba's army commanded by Che Guevara during the missile crises in 1963 (optional). A small hike the next day exposes rural idyll, and depending on the season we can observe tobacco farmers at work.
Days 8 and 9 (40 km): Pinar del Rio
Leaving Vinales, our bike tour leads to the city of Pinar del Rio, where we can visit one of the last freely accessible cigar factorys. We reach today's destination in the afternoon; a neat ranch hidden in the surroundings of the city.
Day 10 (85 km): On our way westwards
After an early breakfast we continue our bike trip towards the Western tip of Cuba. Today we enjoy one of the most beautiful cycle stages of all Cuba. We are accommodated in a simple casa particular.
Day 11 (66 km): An unspoiled nature reserve
Maria La Gorda is a beach hotel on the western tip of the national park. It is also an excellent diving spot. Optionally, we can go for a snorkel trip.
Days 12 and 13 (81 km): Along the coastline
Traversing the national park, we cycle alongside the coastline to Cabo San Antonio. We pass beautiful beaches without any people. The flora and fauna here are unspoiled, as these parts are rarely visited. We have one day off at the beach.
Day 14: Back to Havana
We catch a transfer back to the city, where we spend our last night of the journey.
Day 15: Farewell
We can take a last stroll through the city before departing.
Please note: We usually book the hotels mentioned in our travel information. Unfortunately, it is possible that we have to alter the reservation at short notice because of the current capacity situation. This could occasionally lead to changes in the itinerary.
