Day 1: Welcome to the metropolis
Depending on your arrival date and time, you will arrive at your accommodation during the course of the day. If you are unable to make your own way to your first accommodation or would prefer to use a transfer service, we will be happy to book this for you. Accommodation is either in Old Havana or in the Vedado district. From your accommodation, you can reach many sights, bars, and restaurants on foot, so depending on the time of day you arrive, you can take a short stroll through the area (optional, without a tour guide).
Day 2 (120 km): Test drive in Havana – Continue to Las Terrazas
After breakfast, we will take a tour of the city and its outskirts before leaving Havana in a westerly direction. Small country roads will take us to Las Terrazas, an experimental settlement project from the 1960s in a former coffee-growing area. Over the years, it has been developed into a recreational area for the Cuban population and also attracts many foreign tourists. Here you can swim in a natural river, the Río San Juan. In Las Terrazas, we will spend the night in an idyllically located private guesthouse.
Day 3 (130 km): Through the Sierra del Rosario to Viñales
Through an impressive mountain landscape, we take small roads to the “Cueva de los Portales,” a cave in a fantastic location that Ernesto Che Guevara used as his headquarters during the missile crisis in 1962. After a break, we continue our tour to Viñales, where we spend the night in one of the beautifully located hotels or in private accommodations in the city center.
Day 4 (180 km): Tour of the province - tobacco growing areas
After breakfast, we take a tour of the surrounding area. First, we take small roads to Moncada, a small village west of Viñales. Here, in the open air, lies the burial place of many fighters from the Revolutionary War and members of the militia. Nearby is the “Gran Caverna de Santo Tomás,” part of a kilometer-long cave system that was only opened to visitors at the beginning of the 21st century. Via Cabezas and Sumidero, we reach the idyllic road to Isabel Rubio. After a short break, we drive northeast and cross the island's main tobacco growing areas on the Carretera Central. We stop at one of the tobacco farms and learn about the cultivation and processing of the coveted leaves. Here we can also have lunch and, of course, enjoy a freshly rolled cigar. Afterwards, we drive back to Viñales via Pinar del Río.
Day 5 (180 km): Back towards Havana
The return journey to Havana takes us parallel to the north coast through La Palma, La Mulata, and Mariel, where we switch to the scenic coastal road “Carretera Panamericana,” which takes us to Havana in an hour. This is where our tour ends. We return the motorcycles and a transfer takes us back to our accommodation.
Day 6: End of the trip or connecting stay
This day is at our leisure. If you are not yet traveling back home, we will be happy to help you book your connecting stay, for example, a beach extension in Varadero.
Occasionally changes in the itinerary are possible.
