Day 1: Holguin

You will spend the first night of your self-guided bike tour through Eastern Cuba in a lovely casa particular Holguin.

Day 2: Holguin - Manzanillo (70 km transfer + 70 km cycling)

We will pick you up in the morning and bring you and the bike to Bayamo, some 70 kilometers away from Holguin. From there you will start cycling; it is another 70 kilometers to Manzanillo. The little town is not very touristic and the inhabitants live mostly on fishing.

Day 3: Manzanillo - Niquero (77 km)

Cycling with the ocean to your right and the Sierra Maestra to your left, you will reach Niquero today, another small town. You will spend the night in a hotel.

Day 4: Niquero - Pilón / Marea del Portillo (approx. 70 km)

Today you will cross the Western foothills of the Sierra Maestra, this stage includes some slopes. You will spend two nights in a small resort in Marea del Portillo or Pilón.

Day 5: Pilón / Marea del Portillo

This day is at leisure.

Day 6: Pilón / Marea del Portillo – La Mula (60 km)

Continuing the bike trip, you will cycle alongside the coastline, with the mountain range to your other side. Today's destination is La Mula, situated near the mouth of the Turquino river, where you will spend the night in simple huts in a basic touristic resort, originally built for domestic tourism.

Day 7: La Mula - Chivirico (53 km)

The next stop on your route is Chivirico

Day 8: Chivirico – Santiago de Cuba (78 km)

The second biggest city of Cuba awaits you. You will spend two nights in a casa particular in Santiago de Cuba.

Day 9: Santiago de Cuba

Time for sightseeing! You may visit the cathedral, the former Moncada barracks or the cemetery Santa Ifigenia, among others.

Day 10: Santiago de Cuba - Holguin

The Viazul bus* takes you back to Holguin, where we await you at the bus terminal to pick up the bike.

Possible additional program ...

...Continuing the bike tour to Baracoa or even to Holguin, completing the circle

...Transfer from Holguin to Guardalavaca with beach stay.

...Dancing class or language course in Santiago.

This itinerary is exemplary and can be modified according to your wishes

* Bikes can be taken onto the bus, but have to be paid seperately when checking in (around 3 to 5 CUC per bike) - bikes cannot be registered in advance.

We usually book the hotels mentioned in our travel information. Unfortunately, it is possible that we have to alter the reservation at short notice because of the current capacity situation. This could occasionally lead to changes in the itinerary.
